TDN Day 5: West Point to Platte Center

Last day. We're feeling a bit anxious to be done, but yet, can't believe we did it all. 40 mile stretch with no towns, but one SAG stop at around 20. OMG more hills. I can't publish what word(s) we used at the top of each hill when we found there was another one right after. Finally made our way into Madison. Rode with Barb, Margaret and Kathy most of the way. Barb was struggling today as was Amy. (73 miler was my struggling day towards the end).

Funny how one day it is your neck, then the next day it is your feet, then another day it is your hands. BioFreeze is a wonderful product! Along with loads of Ibuprofen. I still can't believe how these 60+ers do this. Amazing.

So we got into Madison, back at their fairgrounds. Wonderful ham sandwiches. Only 20 to go. However, we turned south right into 20-25 mph wind. Took us 3 hours to ride those miles, uphill in the wind. Just another butt-kicker all the way home.

We got to Platte Center, threw our stuff in the car and drove home as fast as we could to a shower and a bed w/mattress! It felt weird to get into a car. Hadn't been in one for 5 days!
